...Retribution or revenge

So let's say that I attend one of the countries top schools, and I have class right after a cutting edge seminar for some business men and academics tend to attend to.

Furthermore lets assume that I am somewhat of a geek and I like to get in early - to read/ chill etc.

And let us say that the lecturer from the previous class have not yet left when I came in and sat down. Further more he was still talking to several of the people who he was giving the talk to.

Now here is the situation. It so happens that I was listening in and I understood what they were talking about. After they were done and leaving I approached and attempted to ask question that made perfect sense in context they were talking about - only to be told my question was not understood.

Lets assume that I took that graciously and said that they were right and I needed to do further reading before attempting to ask the question.

Now lets go further in or assumptions and say that the people that left, with the cutting edge research forgot a memory stick on the desk near computer on which I seconds later checked my email.

I hypothetically pocketed the memory stick to find out "who it belongs to" and return it to its owner.

Now after having discovered a lot of research on this device. What do I do? Do I return the research to the owner? Do I publish it on the web - with my own notes on content? Do I find the owner and ship/give the research back to him?
